Safe Pet Anesthesia is a family-owned company led by husband-and-wife team Dr. Gianluca Bini and Kristen Ward. Dr. Bini is a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist with extensive experience in both academic and clinical settings. Kristen brings a unique dual perspective as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia & Analgesia and a human Cardiovascular ICU BSN-RN.
Through real-time teleconsultation, the Safe Pet Anesthesia team works closely with our doctors and technicians throughout the whole anesthetic event to support both complex and routine cases.

Dr. Gianluca Bini DVM, MRCVS, DACVAA
Board Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologist, Consultant & Staff Education
Dr. Gianluca Bini graduated from the University of Perugia, Italy. He then moved to the United Kingdom, where he completed two internships, one in anesthesia and one rotating, at Dick White Referrals, one of the largest referral centers in Europe. After completing his residency at North Carolina State University, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at The Ohio State University.
After realizing how limited the access to a board-certified anesthesiologist was, he decided to found Safe Pet Anesthesia.
Driven by a passion for teaching and devotion to spreading safe anesthetic practices, he speaks at many national and international conferences while also working as an anesthesiology and pain management faculty at Oklahoma State University.
Kristen Ward, BSN-RN, RVT-VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia)
Veterinary Technician Specialist, Consultant & Staff Education
Kristen Ward graduated in Veterinary Medical Technology from Central Carolina Community College and spent 12 years working as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Six of those years were dedicated to the Anesthesia service at North Carolina State University, where she pursued her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Anesthesia and Analgesia. After relocating to Ohio, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capital University.
Kristen now lives in Oklahoma, where she continues to work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit while also serving as the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Safe Pet Anesthesia. She combines her expertise in both veterinary and human healthcare to elevate the standards of veterinary anesthesia. Her passion for anesthesia, along with a meticulous attention to detail, fuels her commitment to improving the quality and safety of anesthesia for all animals. Kristen also provides high-quality continuing education at a national level.
In her free time, she enjoys training and spending time with her Golden Retrievers.
